Technical Superintendence

Docking Oversight

Vessel Superintendence

We have attended to numerous dockings and major repairs / refits in various yards around the world. These were initially as a ‘docking’ Chief Engineer for offshore vessels and then as a Technical Superintendent for intermediate and full class surveys, for planned retrofit and emergency repairs on various geared cargo (MPV) vessels.

Recently, as consultants, we have advised owners on necessary damage repair extent (hull and machinery) and as surveyors investigating extensive damages we have recently attended on board heavy lift crane barges, VLCC’s, container ships and LPG/LNG tankers. On each and every case we have worked together with the owners technical management team to broker the safest repair solutions in the most cost effective manner. These attendances have covered all aspects of casualty from total constructive loss (TLC) assessment on tankers with their bottoms ripped off to multiple thruster failures on state-of-the-art seismic survey vessels.

Taking this enormous experience one-step further, expert superintendency on a contract basis, is now available to shipowners and managers who perhaps do not have the in-house expertise readily available or who appreciate the dedicated and wholehearted approach that dockings and repairs of any nature require.

We can also provide 3rd party attendance at dockings/repairs, to report progress on such where an independent non-aligned view is required e.g. by charterers or owners who are not directly involved in the repair process but who have a direct interest in the end result.

Today, we can take-on the technical superintendence of dockings or repair periods from start to finish. This superintendence would begin by us receiving the docking/repair information and the intended work to be carried out, with our subsequent attendance arranged at the shipyard concerned and prior to the actual project occurring. Our attendance and technical supervision would then be available until the vessel leaves the dock or repair berth, with a final report subsequently issued to the owners and/or managers on the project scope and outcome.
