Marine casualties are often the result of navigational, human or machinery failure, the consequence of which has resulted in severe damage and in some instances capsize and sinking. Various incidents investigated have included ‘hit and run’, grounding, fire and complete flooding to Total Constructive Loss (TCL) and often with continual involvement with the salvor in immediate mitigation.

Often, as the ‘first party onboard’ after the incident, witness statements have been taken from those involved from the Master downward, VDR and other navigational aid data preserved, with immediate advice provided for salvage/remedy and with continued on-scene presence until the immediate situation is resolved.
